What we store in your browser (very little), why, and how to clear it.
This Cookie Policy explains what information the TeachUSVI website (www.teachusvi.net) stores in your browser, why, and how you can control it. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
Summary: we do not set advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. The Site uses a handful of small, functional storage items that stay in your browser and are never sent to us.
1. What are cookies and browser storage?
Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store and send back with later requests. Local storage and session storage are similar browser features that let a page remember small pieces of information on your device; unlike cookies, they are not automatically sent to the server. Laws such as the EU ePrivacy Directive treat all of these technologies in a similar way, so we describe them all here.

These items are strictly necessary or functional: they only exist to provide features you actively use. None of them identify you to us or to anyone else, and none are shared with third parties.
3. Third-party requests
Some pages load content from third parties, which may receive your IP address and standard browser information as part of any web request:
- Wikimedia Commons (upload.wikimedia.org) — photographs;
- Open-Meteo (api.open-meteo.com) — the live weather widget.
Neither is used by us for tracking, and to our knowledge neither sets tracking cookies through our pages. Their own policies apply. If a third-party service we use in the future sets cookies, we will update this table before it goes live and ask for consent where the law requires.
4. Your choices
- Cookie notice: choose “Accept” or “Essential only”. Because we do not use optional tracking, both options give you the same privacy-friendly experience; your choice is simply remembered. You can reopen the notice any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer.
- Clear storage: delete site data for teachusvi.net in your browser settings (usually under Privacy › Site data). This resets checklists and the cookie notice.
- Block storage: you can block cookies and site data in your browser. The Site will still work; only features such as saved checklist progress will be unavailable.
- Private browsing: storage is discarded when you close a private window.

5. Changes
We will update this policy if we change what we store. The “last updated” date at the top shows the current version.
