Disclaimer
Important information about our independence, the limits of our content and how to verify official information.
1. Independent, non-governmental website
TeachUSVI is not a government website. It is privately operated and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or acting on behalf of the Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE), the Virgin Islands Board of Education (VIBOE), the Government of the U.S. Virgin Islands, ETS or any other organization mentioned on the Site. Names of agencies, schools and organizations are used only to identify them.
The domain teachusvi.net was previously used by the Department of Education's Division of Human Resources. That website is no longer operated by the Department. Our About page explains the history. For official information, always use the Department's own website at vide.vi and the Board's website at myviboe.com.
Protect yourself from scams. We will never ask you for a fee to apply for a government job, for your Social Security number, bank login or passwords. If anyone claiming to represent TeachUSVI asks for these, do not respond and let us know at [email protected].
2. General information only
All content on the Site — articles, guides, FAQs, calculators, checklists and directories — is provided for general informational and educational purposes. It is not professional advice of any kind, including legal, immigration, tax, financial, insurance, medical or emergency-management advice. You should consult a qualified professional about your specific situation.
3. Accuracy and timeliness
We research content carefully and link to official sources, but rules, requirements, test scores, salaries, prices, school names and configurations change, sometimes without notice. We make no representations or warranties about the completeness, accuracy, reliability or availability of the information. Each article shows the date it was last reviewed. If you find an error, please tell us.
4. Calculators and estimates
The cost-of-living calculator and sample budgets use illustrative figures to help you plan. They are not quotes, offers or financial advice, and actual costs will differ.
5. Schools directory
The schools directory is a planning aid compiled from public sources. Schools may have been renamed, merged, relocated or closed. Confirm current information with the Department of Education.
6. Weather and emergency information
The live weather widget uses third-party data and may be delayed or inaccurate. It is not a warning system. During storms and emergencies, follow official instructions from the NOAA National Hurricane Center and VITEMA.
7. External links
Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, privacy practices or availability.
8. No guarantee of results
Using our guides or Services does not guarantee employment, certification, test results, housing or any other outcome.
9. Photographs
Photographs are used under free licenses from Wikimedia Commons, with credit on each page and on our Image Credits page. People and places shown are for illustration and do not imply endorsement of TeachUSVI. Some classroom photographs were taken outside the Virgin Islands.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TeachUSVI is not liable for any loss or damage arising from reliance on information on the Site. See our Terms of Use.
